Alexandrite is a member of the chrysoberyl spieces. Alexandrite is named after Czar Alexander II of Russia. It was discovered in 1831, in the Ural Mountains of Russia. Alexandrite's colour agent make this stones an interesting stone. In daylight or fluorescent light the gemstone will appear green in colour. In candlelight or ligh from an incandescent bulb, the gemstone will appear red in colour.
Caring
Alexandrite is sensitive to impact and pressure and its colour-change ability can be affected by exposure to high temperature
