Aventurine is translucent to opaque gemstone belonging to the microcrystalline quartz group. Aventurine usually has a shimmering red, orange, reddish-orange and more rarely a green or blue in colour. The glittering is caused by the light bounced off from tiny hematite or goethite flakes in the stone. Sometimes the copper-coloured stones will give a metallic luster to the stone.
