Originally found in Mediterranean Sea (Bay of Biscay, Canary Island), off coasts of China and Japan, Malaysian Archipelago and Hawaii.

Corals comes from the Greek word meaning "daughter of the sea". Corals are the axial skeleton of coral polyps. The skeletal material are mainly calcium carbonate crystallized as mineral calcite. Corals come in pink, salmon pink, orange, red, dark red, white, blue and black. Red, pink, white and blue varieties are composed with calcium carbonate. Black, and golden corals are composed with conchiolin, horn-like material.

Inclusions

Aquamarine have very few or little inclusions. The most common inclusions in aquamarine is the parallel rain growth pattern that contain crystallites and liquid and gas vesicles.

Treatments

Coral may be stained to enhance colour.

Caring

Apply hairspray or perfume before wearing amber jewellery.

Avoid contact with strong solutions, hot water and bright light..

To clean, use a soft damp cloth.

If the surface of coral get scratched, have jeweller repolish it.
