Kunzite is a type of spodumene. Kunzite is named after G.F. Kunz, who first described the gem in 1902. Kunzite have a varieties of colours: pink, light yellow-brown, light-violet, bluish lilac and colourless.
Traditionally, kunzite is thought to bring good luck. Kunzite is also said to help strenghten the circulatory system and lung disorders.
Inclusions
Tube-like inclusions or fracture may be found in kunzite and often run parallel to each other along the crystal.
Treatments
Irradiating treatment is common in Kunzite to improve or to change the colour of the stone.
Caring
Kunzite is sensitive to heat cause colour to change, so keep it away from sunlight.
Avoid sudden temperature change.
