Pearls is an organic gemstone, the nacre structure are subject to change overtime. The life span for peral varies and has no guarantee. The average life span for perl is estimated 100 to 150 years. There are signs indicate and aging pearl, first it will become dull and fissures occur, and finally the beads spall. Proper care for pearl will help preserve and prolong their life.
Pearls are sensitive to chemicals, acid, cosmetics, hair spray and perspiration. Comestics, perfume and hairspray should be applied before wearing pearl jewellery.
Pearl has a very low hardness and can easily be scratch, therefore store pearl separately to avoid surface contact with other gemstone and metals.
To clean, wipe pearl with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not clean pearl in ultraonic or chemical solutions.
Restring pearl necklace or bracelet from time to time to ensure the string used to hold them together is in good shape.
